Family Enrichment Network in Broome County is getting $1.4 million to help house the homeless in the area.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the local program is one of eight in the state that will provide housing and support services to homeless veterans, domestic violence survivors and people with mental illness.

A total of $29.6 million is being awarded to project through the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance Homeless Housing Assistance Program.

Locally, 19 housing units are to be added along with support services like rental assistance, adult literacy education, transportation, financial counseling and parenting education.
