Multi-Alarm Fire Rips Through Endicott Apartment House
Several fire departments battled a fast-moving blaze that raced through a two-family house in Endicott.
The fire in the two-story wood frame structure at 106 Fillmore Avenue was reported around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The first police and fire crews on the scene reported a working fire that apparently originated on the first floor of the house. The blaze quickly spread to the second floor and into the attic of the structure.
A second alarm was called in about two minutes after the first units were dispatched to the fire.
Endicott firefighters were assisted by crews from Endwell, Vestal and Johnson City. Two Union Volunteer Emergency Squad ambulances stood by at the scene.
NYSEG gas and electric workers were called to shut off utilities to the burning house.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Fillmore Avenue was closed between Monroe and Broad streets for emergency operations.
