Drivers Adjust to Main Street Lane Changes in Endicott and Endwell
As a major makeover project nears completion, motorists on Route 17C in the town of Union are dealing with new traffic patterns.
Some drivers say they've been confused in recent days because of new signs and temporary lane markings on East Main Street in Endicott and Endwell.
Scott Cook, a spokesman for the New York State Department of Transportation, said permanent lane markings will be applied in the next few days.
Cook said some traffic signals also are to be shifted as part of the $2.9 million project.
Lane reductions and other adjustments have been made in various spots from Arthur Avenue in Endicott and Hooper Road in Endwell.
A center lane has been established in some areas for left-turning motorists.
Milling and paving operations along the 1.3-mile section of Route 17C were completed earlier this month.
