Authorities say Owen Simwale of Towanda was arrested following the pursuit on Tuesday (March 8).

According to state police, a trooper tried to stop a vehicle driven by Simwale on West River Road after it moved from a lane in an unsafe manner.

Police say Simwale would not pull over for the trooper. He is said to have continued to drive recklessly for about four miles before stopping.

Investigators say the driver would not agree to a breath test to determine the alcohol content of his blood.

Simwale was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer and driving while intoxicated. He also was cited for reckless driving and other traffic violations.

Simwale was arraigned in Nichols town court. He was sent to Tioga County Jail on $3,000 bail.
