Drainage Problems Must Be Fixed at New Rec Park Tennis Courts

A much-anticipated tennis court replacement project at Binghamton's Recreation Park has been completed but some lingering issues still need to be addressed.

Mayor Richard David said the city is working with the contractor to deal with some items "that we're not totally satisfied with from a quality control standpoint."

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program on Tuesday, David said drainage problems at the newly-constructed facility need to be fixed.

The mayor said underground drainage issues were a primary concern with the tennis court project.

David said while most of those issues were addressed, it is "not to 100 percent of our satisfaction of what we think it should be."

The mayor said while the new tennis facility looks good and functions well, "we want what we paid for."

David said the contractor has been cooperating to satisfactorily address the issues that have been raised with the project. He said he expects the problems can be rectified by the end of the year.
