Over five dozen Lockheed Martin employees at the Owego facility and dozens more in the Syracuse area will spend their last day on the job in a couple weeks.

The company warned several weeks ago that it would be cutting hundreds of jobs in Mission Systems and Training nation-wide.

65 workers in Tioga County have received pink slips while 80 workers were notified they were being laid off from the facility in Salina, near Syracuse. In the U.S.,  587 workers in Mission Systems and Training were notified of termination.

Most of the Tioga County employees will close out their last shift November 20.

The company says once the layoffs are complete, the Owego plant will have 2,600 workers.

Lockheed Martin Lockheed cites the competitive marketplace, uncertain program funding and some contract delays.
