Donations Pour in To Rebuild OurSpace Playground at Recreation Park

Binghamton Mayor Richard David says over $120,000 has been raised to rebuild an accessible playground at Recreation Park that was burned to the ground by arsonists hours after a peaceful demonstration at the park early June 1. 

The arson at OurSpace playground. remains under investigation and anyone with information, including residents in the area who may have images captured by doorbell or other security cameras, is asked to contact Binghamton Police.

Dozens of volunteers gathered at Recreation Park for a clean up effort, although they were not allowed to do any work at the charred remains of the playground due to the ongoing insurance and police investigations.

Anyone who wants to help with financial contributions for rebuilding the play space can go to donorswhocare.com/ourspace where the Community Foundation for South Central New York has been coordinating fundraising efforts.
