Dining for Dollars Benefits Faith in Action
The annual Dining for Dollars Dinner was held last (Thursday) night at the Polish Community Center on Prospect Street in Binghamton. The event raises money for Faith in Action Volunteers in conjunction with the Broome County Council of Churches.
A number of area clergy members took part along with other well-known local figures. Clergy and local celebrities waited on tables in exchange for tips which were turned over to Faith In Action administrators. Along with the clergy celebrities included: New York State Senator Fred Akshar, Broome County Sheriff David Harder, Fox 40's Mick Dywer and WNBF Radio's Roger Neel.
Diners enjoyed baked chicken, halupki, mashed potatoes, green beans and salad plus cake for dessert. Faith in Action Volunteers helps area seniors remain independent. The group assists with transportation for medical appointments and grocery shopping. Ramp It Up is a big part of the service provided by Faith in Action. Wheelchair ramps are constructed for residents with mobility issues to help keep them living at home.
