Deposit Woman Accused of Posing as State Worker to Steal Identity
A Deposit woman is accused of stealing another person's identity and using it to apply for a debit card.
Delaware County Sheriff's officials say 22-year-old Kinda Osborne is accused of pretending to be an employee of the New York State Office of Unemployment in order to gain access to the victim's social security number. Osborne then used the number to apply for a debit card.
Authorities were alerted November 30th by a resident who found the fraud and Osborne was tracked down December 4.
Osborne is charged with identity theft and criminal impersonation and was released under New York State Bail Reform rules to await a date in Town of Deposit Court.
