Grand Opening Date Revealed for The Chestnut Inn at Oquaga Lake
The sale of the historic Chestnut Inn at Oquaga Lake has been finalized and the new owners have announced plans to start operations for the summer.
Settlers Hospitality of Hawley, Pennsylvania acquired the 12-acre property near Deposit from the Maines family this month.
The company has announced the Chestnut Inn's grand opening date will be July 10.
In a news release, Settlers Hospitality said 17 guest rooms will be available in the main lodge.
The hotel also has a conference room, business center and library.
The Chestnut Inn had been listed for $2.8 million. The sale price was not disclosed. It closed its doors in January 2010.
The inn was known as the Hotel Monoquaga when it was opened by Samuel Retzer in July 1928. Most of the building was constructed of North American chestnut wood.
Outdoor dining will be offered on the Waterford Terrace next to the lake. Indoor dining also will be available.
Homeowners on Oquaga Lake will be able to take advantage of "Dock and Dine" at seven available slips.
The restaurant will serve dinner seven days a week. Brunch will be served on Saturdays and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Reservations for guest rooms and the restaurant will be accepted starting July 3. The reservation number is (607) 298-2348.
