Deposit to Pay Broome $60,000 Plus Gas Money for Law Enforcement

The Broome County Legislature is scheduled to vote on taking up responsibility for law enforcement in the Village of Deposit.

Residents last year voted to do away with the Village Police Department and court. 

The resolution before the Legislature authorizes an agreement with the Village and Town of Deposit for the Broome County Sheriff to provide additional law enforcement services from March 1, 2020 through Frebruary 28, 2025.

The resolution has the Village paying the county $60,000 this year with $5,000 more each year through the end of the agreement.

The Village will also hand over the title to two Deposit Police vehicles to be used by the Sheriff’s Office and provide fuel for County Sheriff’s vehicles used when patrolling Deposit.
