Deposit Man Charged With Murder

A Deposit man is being held in Otsego County after calling Police and confessing he had killed his friend at an apartment in Oneonta.

Police responded to the apartment on Main Street at around 3:30 a.m. January 1 and found 52 year old Mark Morrison had been killed by blunt force trauma.

25 year old Joshua Underwood is charged with felony murder, attempted arson and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police say Underwood had been staying with Morrison.

Authorities have not commented on a possible motive behind the killing or the reason for the attempted arson charge.

Underwood was sent to the Otsego County Jail on $50,000 bail.

The investigation is continuing.
