This past weekend was very successful for our local boy's baseball and girl's softball teams in the Southern Tier. Many of our schools made it to the finals with Deposit-Hancock having the best weekend overall.

As any gentleman will tell you, "girls first", so let's start with the young ladies and the NYSPHSAA girls softball championships.

2022 NYSPHSAA Boys Baseball Championships

There were only two representatives from Section IV in the NYSPHSAA  boy's baseball championships.

Class A Finals - Maine-Endwell (IV) was shut out 7-0 in the semis by the eventual champions, Averill Park (2).

Class D Finals - Deposit-Hancock was the biggest dog over the weekend. They walked by Crown Point (VII) in the semifinals with a 15-0 shutout. They imposed their will in the finals by defeating Chapel Field (IX) 14-5 in the finals.

2022 NYSPHSAA Boys Lacrosse Championships

There was another tournament this weekend that involved a Section IV school and it was in boy's lacrosse. Chenango Forks was the only school to make it to the semis and the finals.

Chenango Forks (IV) run by Akron (VI) 20-13 but are sunk in Cold Spring Harbor (VIII) by a 17-1 score.

Southern Tier high schools weren't the only ones with a good weekend because Binghamton University had it going on too.

2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Emily MacKay won her fifth NCAA Division I All-America honor. She finished sixth in the 1,500 at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. This is the most won by any Binghamton athlete during the program's 21-year NCAA Division I era.
