Delaware County Sheriff DuMond on Southern Tier Close Up
Delaware County's Sheriff, Craig DuMond is the special guest on the weekly, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up with some surprising positions on issues like police reinvention and bail reform.
The Sheriff often includes comments on news releases concerning the release of repeat offenders or suspects in serious crimes critical of bail reform, but he admits on the show that that's not a blanket criticism.
DuMond also has some positive things to say about police reform and reinvention, which recently passed in Delaware County.
There is one question posed to the sheriff for which he really has no clear-cut answer and that is "WHAT'S WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!" That query came after Sheriff DuMond issued a news release with four pages of warnings to residents about on-going scams with many more that didn't make the list.
The Delaware Sheriff's Office, like law enforcement agencies all over the region and country, has had to face some very unique challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic in order to keep the community safe, property and life protected and laws enforced.
The Sheriff says he is impressed and grateful for the men and women in the department who managed to maintain perfect attendance without a single unscheduled day off for the year in spite of the enormous hurdles. Many of those employees were recently recognized in an awards presentation.
You can hear this engaging and informative look into the Delaware County Sheriff's office on Southern Tier Close Up Saturday at 6:03 a.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF and anytime on the WNBF podcast.
