Daycare Opened for Children of Broome County Employees
A daycare facility is being made available for children of Broome County employees.
County Executive Jason Garnar has announced childcare is being provided at Broome Western Senior Center on Wayne Street in Endwell.
Garnar said the service will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The free childcare is being offered for children of county employees and essential staff from the area who have no other options. It's available for school-age children in grades K through 5.
District attorney Michael Korchak said school resource officers are being made available as part of the county initiative. He said the officers will help staff the daycare center to ensure safety at the site.
County officials are evaluating two additional potential locations for childcare facilities.
The Department of Social Services is establishing a task force to monitor open daycare spots in the county.
