Coronavirus cases have continued to increase across the Southern Tier region of New York in recent days.

Governor Andrew Cuomo on Monday expressed concern about the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases discovered in recent testing.

Cuomo attributed the increases to three coronavirus clusters: One involving a Broome County pub, another a Chemung County church gathering and a third centered on a Steuben County nursing home.

The governor repeated his advice for people to wear a mask and get tested as part of an effort to "stop the spread" of the virus.

Cuomo's comments followed a warning issued late last week by Broome County Executive Jason Garnar.

On Friday, Garnar said the county had received the highest number of COVID-19 positive test results to date. He said many of the cases were "tied to people gathering socially and visiting local establishments."
