Cuban Immigrant Accused of Using Fraudulent Credit Cards for Fuel in Owego
Village of Owego Police say a Florida man is accused of using fraudulent credit cards to buy huge amounts of diesel fuel that he pumped into a 400-gallon hidden tank in the rear of his pickup truck.
31-year-old Eric Machet Riscart, who says he is a Cuban citizen who entered the United States through Mexico, was arrested after a 2-month investigation.
Owego Police say Riscart is charged with 28 counts of felony possession of forged instruments, felony possession of burglary tools and misdemeanor petit larceny.
Under bail reform rules, Riscart, who has ties in Miami and New Jersey, was released on his own recognizance.
The news release from the Owego Police did not indicate what investigators believed Riscart was doing with all that gas.
Owego Police were assisted by New York State Police, New York State Environmental Conservation Police and the Vestal Police Department.
