Covid Mandate Opponents Demonstrate in Binghamton
Dozens of people gathered in front of the Binghamton State Office Building to protest coronavirus-related rules in New York.
Many participants held signs on the sidewalk along Hawley Street on Friday morning expressing opposition to the continued requirement that children must wear masks in school.
One woman who addressed the crowd said she believes masking "is doing far more harm than good."
Some members of the group criticized Governor Kathy Hochul for issuing mandates.
Two people who said they traveled from Ithaca to attend the protest in Binghamton said it was the first time they had participated in this type of event.
Organizers of the demonstration said similar simultaneous protests were being held around New York state.
