Cortland Count Has Single-Day Double-Digit Coronavirus Increase

Cortland County is showing a double-digit jump in coronavirus cases in one day and the number of cases at SUNY Cortland is forcing the campus to shut down for two weeks. 

SUNY Cortland had been using online learning since September 26^th and that was supposed to end October 9.  The number of cases at the school, however has surpassed the 100 over a two-week period threshold set by the state and is now to be on remote-learning for two weeks.

The outbreak is being blamed on off-campus students and gatherings.  SUNY Cortland officials say they are taking steps to crack down on people violating COVID regulations. 

Meanwhile, county-wide, the Cortland reported on October 7 that the infection rate increased by 22 to 254. 

Chenango County reported one new case for a total of 263. There have been 7 deaths due to COVID-19 in Chenango County. Delaware County added one case for a total of 129 since the start of the pandemic and there have been 8 deaths. 

There was no update posted for Tioga County October 7.  The last report was for October 6 with 302 cases and 27 deaths.
