A Cortland man is accused of setting fire to a home in the Village of Marathon in January, 2022.

Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say the Marathon Fire Department and other agencies responded to a home on Swift Street for a house fire on January 9th and investigators determined the blaze had been intentionally set.

Detectives say they found 40-year-old Chad McKane had formerly lived at the home and is accused of starting the fire.  Authorities also accuse McKane of violating an order of protection.

McKane was arrested Friday, February 18 and charged with felony counts of Arson, Criminal Mischief and Criminal Contempt.

He was sent to the Cortland County Jail to await arraignment.
