The Design Connect team took suggestions at Binghamton’s Ross Park Zoo October 13 on how to best re-imagine the entrance with a community meeting planned for November.

Some suggestions included hiking trails, a playground or pavilions.

The entrance and its stately columns, built in 1875, served as the main entrance to the park, welcoming horses and buggies in its early days then some of the first automobiles.  The drive, however, cannot be made useable for modern transportation but the City of Binghamton and zoo have expressed interest in preserving the historic site.

After design ideas are developed, the City will look into ways to implement the plans.
