Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Two men are facing charges after New York State Police say they attempted to make a traffic stop on a minivan on Interstate 81 in Kirkwood at 1:28 a.m. February 17 and the driver took off.

Police chased the van about 8 miles to Route 17 West when the driver pulled into a parking lot on Reynolds Road in Johnson City.

Troopers say they had seen the driver throwing a bag containing 150 grams of cocaine from the van.

37 year old Anthony Thompson of Johnson City is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and evidence tampering as well as misdemeanor fleeing a police officer.

His passenger, 29 year old Tyrell Tomlinson of Tarboro, North Carolina is charged with felony drug possession.

Both were sent to the Broome County Jail without bail.

State Police say the Broome Sheriff's Department, Binghamton Police, Vestal Police and Johnson City Police assisted in the arrests and search for evidence.
