Appearing on July 26th edition of the local public affairs program, Chris Marion the Broome County Stop DWI coordinator, talks about the changes to the 31st annual Chris Thater Memorial Races.

This year, the race changes its location from Recreation Park to Downtown Binghamton. Marion says that they are hoping to get the message of drunk and impaired driving to a larger number of people by moving the location of the event. He is also hoping to reach more people in the 18 to 30 year- old demographic. The change in venue is also a good way to promote Downtown Binghamton itself, many of the stores and restaurants are offering specials over the weekend.

The race takes place August 23rd and 24th. More information and registration forms can be found by visiting www.bcstopdwi.com.

Southern Tier Close-Up can be heard Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. On News Radio 1290 WNBF.
