Authorities say Shaver fled after assaulting the deputy, who was transported by the Norwich Fire Department to Chenango Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Upstate University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A warrant for assault on a police officer was issued for Shaver and, after searching several locations, Shaver was found holed up in a camper on County Road 47 in the Town of Pharsalia, armed with a long knife.  He was eventually taken into custody without further incident by Sheriff’s Deputies, New York State Police and the New York State Police violent Felony Warrant Squad.
