Troy Nickerson set numerous records as a standout high school and collegiate wrestler.  One of the finest athletes to come out of this area he had a stellar career competing for the Chenango Forks Blue Devils.  He captured five Section 4 titles as well as winning New York State Championships five times.

Nickerson moved on to compete with the Cornell Big Read where again he made his mark.  Troy was a four-time All-American wrestling for the Big Red.  In 2009 he won the NCAA National Championship as a junior competing in the 125 pound weight class.

In 2012 he joined the Iowa State University coaching staff as an assistant.  In 2014 he was named the head wrestling coach of the University of Northern Colorado.

Troy returned to his home area last Monday as he was honored by being one of 12 inductees into the Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame.  The Induction Dinner was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Binghamton.
