Pedestrian Struck on Binghamton’s West Side
A vehicle hit a pedestrian on Main Street on the West Side of Binghamton.
The incident was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. It happened at the intersection of Main and Mather streets.
The pedestrian apparently was struck by a car that had been westbound on Main Street. The vehicle believed to have been involved stopped near the scene.
Police investigators used yellow chalk on the pavement near the crosswalk to mark relevant spots at the scene of the incident. A small pool of blood was visible on Main Street.
The pedestrian, who reportedly sustained a head injury, was transported to a hospital by a Superior Ambulance. No information was available about the exact nature or extent of the person's injuries.
An employee of West Side Mini Mart at 96 Main Street said he heard a commotion and left the store to find out what happened.
Westbound traffic on Main Street was detoured around the crash scene for about 30 minutes until police had finished making measurements near the crosswalk.
