Car Strikes Gas Meter at House in Binghamton’s First Ward
Binghamton firefighters were called to a First Ward neighborhood after a vehicle hit a natural gas installation on the side of a home.
The crash at 5 Seymour Street was reported around 5:20 p.m. Monday. There apparently were no injuries in the incident.
An out-of-control Toyota Camry jumped the curb on Colfax Avenue. It apparently struck a section of a fence before smashing into the gas meter outside the two-story house.
Firefighters tried to shut off the gas using a valve next to the street. They stood by until a NYSEG repair crew arrived at the scene.
Binghamton police were investigating the crash.
