Byrne Dairy Plans to Develop a Fourth Broome County Store
Syracuse-based Byrne Dairy is continuing its expansion into the Binghamton area with a move to open a fourth convenience store in Broome County.
Byrne opened its first local shop on East Main Street in Endicott in late May. The company previously revealed plans for additional stores in Endwell and Whitney Point.
Byrne vice president Christian Brunelle on Tuesday said the company soon will make public its proposal for another Broome County location.
Construction on the new Byrne Dairy & Deli Endwell store at 3100 Watson Boulevard is nearing completion. Byrne acquired the 1.2-acre site in April from Thomas Mazzanoble for $250,000.
Brunelle said plans now call for the Endwell store to open on October 12. He said hiring already is underway for the location. More people will be hired before the opening.
The Whitney Point Byrne location will be about 900 square feet larger than the Endicott and Endwell stores. The northern Broome County store will have a car wash and a separate diesel fuel island.
The timeline for developing that store may be affected by a nearby bridge replacement project in Whitney Point.
