Busy Endwell Bridge Closed for Replacement Project
Drivers who normally use a heavily-traveled bridge in the town of Union will have to find an alternative route for the next few weeks.
The Country Club Road bridge over Patterson Creek is being replaced in a project that's been in the works for years.
Utility crews were on the site in recent days making preparations for the project. Although vehicular traffic will be detoured while the work is underway, pedestrians will be able to utilize a special temporary bridge that was constructed on the south side of the span.
The bridge closure took effect Monday. Town officials say they expect the road will reopen on August 11.
The bridge is located just west of Endwell Fire Department Station 1.
Most motorists likely will use Watson Boulevard while the Country Club Road project is underway.
The town has received a $1.75 million dollar state grant to pay for the project.
