Broome Takes Applications for Small Community Fund Grants
Broome County is taking applications from local municipalities, non-profits and economic development groups for the next round of Small Community Fund grants.
The initial deadline to submit proposals is March 31.
A total of $150,000 is available for projects that can help smaller communities that may not be eligible for alternate funding sources.
Broome County officials say the emphasis is on projects that support small retail and restaurants, substandard housing, elder-friendly development, arts, events and festivals, combat blight, coordinate marketing efforts for rural village centers, improve access to recreational and scenic resources and improve streetscape, bike and pedestrian amenities and commercial facades.
The Small Community Fund plan is available online at gobroomecounty.com/comprehensiveplan. Applications can returned to Planning Department Director Frank Evangelisti at the Broome County Office Building.
