Broome Looks at Jump in Coronavirus Positive Tests
Broome County officials are examining where an increase in positive tests for the coronavirus lately have been coming from.
July 10, the county reported 34 new cases after only reporting one or two on previous days.
Over the past week, residents have been advised of positive tests coming back at bars, restaurants and social gatherings.
Previous increases in cases have been attributed to congregate facilities like nursing homes.
Broome County has a panel of contact tracers who look into where a person who tested positive has been and with whom they may have come in contact.
Officials have indicated that it is too soon, for now, to tell if the increase in the past several days is a direct result of the resumption of more business and other activities under phase four reopening or due to a lapse in vigilance among the public, or a combination of both.
