Officials with the Broome County Sheriff’s Correction Division Criminal Investigations Unit say they have shut down an in-jail dangerous contraband operation.

Officials acted on tips from inmates and housing unit officers and raided the female housing unit.

Officers and a Highway Patrol K9 searched the pod and found four inmates in possession of heroin.

In addition, Victoria McCracken of Binghamton and Jonna Cassidy of Endicott are each charged with felony counts of promoting dangerous contraband and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Erica Sanchez of Endicott and Roshonda Barnes of Rochester are each charged with promoting dangerous contraband.

Sylinda Ketchum of Syracuse is charged with obstructing governmental administration and Orialis Brooks of Binghamton is charged with promoting prison contraband.

Authorities say Cassidy, Sanchez, Brooks and Barnes were all found in possession of heroin and officers say they determined McCracken was the original source with Cassidy dealing the drug in the pod in exchange for commissary items.

Another inmate, Paige Vymislicky was caught with a shampoo bottle filled with urine in an attempt to alter her drug test.

Ketchum admitted providing clean urine to Vymislicky.

Charges for Vymislicky are pending.
