Broome County is getting money back from New York State Electric and Gas.

Director of the Office of Energy Development, Margaret Sarinzi says the $130,000 rebate check comes from the newly completed installation of LED light fixtures in the basement of the Broome County Office Building.

655 new 40 watt fixtures were put in the basement parking garage, replacing old 100 watt metal halide lights.

County officials say the new lighting makes the parking area brighter and is expected to save the county close to 246,000 kilowatt hours a year.

The NYSEG rebate is part of the company’s Commercial and Industrial Rebate Program.
