Broome County’s New Library Director Talks Big Plans on So. Tier Close Up
Broome County's new Library Director, Jacalyn Spoon appears this weekend on the weekly, local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up and talks about her background and hopes for the County's library system.
Spoon says she sees the library on Court Street in Binghamton continuing to evolve as a hub of the community. Some groups already use the facility for meetings or other gatherings and a number of classes are held at the Library. Spoon says, however, she sees the potential for more events and activities at different hours than currently entertained on Court Street.
Spoon says she has a life-long love of reading and libraries and has worked in systems in the Finger Lakes and Central New York regions for years, jumping at the chance to take on leading the Broome County library.
A number of programs and events are planned for the beginning of the year. You can find out more about the library by visiting its website: www.bclibrary.info.
Southern Tier Close Up is heard Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
