Broome County is announcing plans to make improvements to the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena to bring it into the 20th Century.

The 46-year-old building is due to get upgrades to its sound system, parking availability, security, accessibility, concessions, seating and other projects to make the Arena more attractive for multiple uses in addition to current sporting and entertainment events.

The County plans to do work in phases to limit disruptions to the Binghamton Devils during the regular AHL hockey season.  The work is expected to take several years to complete.

A news release from the Binghamton Devils did not discuss the cost of the project or when work is expected to begin.
