Broome County Stolen Vehicle Car Chase Ends in Town of Dickinson

A police pursuit of a stolen Chevrolet Silverado started in Binghamton and ended in the Town of Dickinson after Broome County Sheriff's Office deputies joined the pursuit.

According to a press release from the Broome County Sheriff's Office, 31-year-old Michael R. Kimball was taken into custody after stealing a Chevrolet Silverado and leading law enforcement authorities on a chase.

Kimball allegedly ignored three separate law enforcement agencies trying to get him to stop while fleeing from police. The Broome County Sheriff's Office joined the pursuit after it was initiated by the City of Binghamton Police.

Kimball led law enforcement agencies up Chenango Street, then collided with the pickup truck of Robert Parks of Binghamton. Parks got involved in the pursuit because the stolen Chevrolet Silverado belongs to a family member of his. After the collision, Parks attempted to stop the Kimball by grabbing him inside the truck. Kimball then collided with Parks' truck again after pulling away from the initial collision, causing Parks to suffer minor injuries for which he denied medical treatment.

After being nearly stopped by Parks, Kimball led police through Beacon Street, Kirkwood Avenue, Rochelle Road and Dickinson Avenue before ending the pursuit on a dirt path. He was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree.

Kimball also received a variety of traffic tickets for his reckless driving. It does not appear that anybody was seriously injured during the pursuit.
