Broome Clerk Says DMV Offices Still Doing Business by Mail
Broome County Clerk Joseph Mihalko wants to remind residents that the Department of Motor Vehicles is still operating even though the usual office locations are closed.
Mihalko says he’s fielded dozens of calls and emails from residents who recently bought vehicles and don’t know how to register them.
DMV services that can be completed by mail include plate surrenders, registration renewals, plate transfers and duplicate registrations and titles. New registrations can also be processed when the customer provides a self-addressed, pre-paid UPS or FedEx return envelope for the license plate.
Registrations by mail must include a completed Vehicle Registration Title Application and a DTF-802 form with proof of insurance, original title, return envelope and a blank check payable to the Broome County Clerk’s Office.
Forms can be downloaded at dmv.ny.gov/forms.
