The New York State Department of Transportation has announced the closure of the ramp from Westbound Interstate 86/State Route 17 to Southbound Interstate 81 at Exit 2 in Kirkwood, Broome County.

The closure is underway and will remain closed on weekdays between 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. for approximately one week. This temporary closure is part of an ongoing bridge rehabilitation project aimed at improving the infrastructure in the area.

During the closure, motorists are advised to adhere to the posted detour routes. The designated detour will guide drivers through Frances Street, Crescent Drive, U.S. Route 11 South to the Interstate-81/State Route 7 ramp, and Conklin-Kirkland Bridge Road to I-81 South.

It is important to note that all construction activities are subject to change based on weather conditions. To inform drivers about the work zone and the necessary detours, messaging boards are in place along with signed detours.
