Town Water and Wastewater Superintendent Scott Groats says the break in the water main at the intersection of those two roads was discovered at around 9:50 p.m. January 16 and traffic was being diverted around the area.

While the repairs were expected to be wrapped up by midday or early afternoon, officials say residents in that area were being notified that they would need to boil any water intended for consumption through until Monday, January 20.

Officials said they were informing the affected residents with printed handouts.

The Buffet Star restaurant, Quality Inn/ Fuji San Restaurant, V.E.P. Properties, Vestal Hills Cemetery, customers on Vestal Road between Bunn HIll and Old Mill Roads but not Old Mill, all customers on Old Lane, O'Hara Road and Woods Road are included

Water that is intended for cooking or consumption should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute before using.  Bottled or boiled water should also be used for brushing teeth but you can still shower and wash dishes in hot water.

The Town will be providing updates as they become available.
