Officials say students and staff were evacuated from the DCMO BOCES Chenango campus in Norwich.

According to a statement issued by Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES late Thursday morning, people were moved to a nearby location.

Those who had been on the main Chenango campus on County Road 32 were directed to the BOCES Support Services Building on Waupaunaucau Road. The location is on a hill behind the campus.

The statement indicated "all students are safe and secure." Parents were advised that students would be released to immediate family members who provided appropriate identification. Those with special needs were released to their school district buses.

Students reportedly had been taking state Regents exams at the time the evacuation order was issued.

BOCES officials were not immediately available to discuss what prompted the evacuation or what agencies responded to the Chenango campus.

People with questions were advised to call 607.334.9848.
