A group from Binghamton University is looking to help the City of Binghamton get to the root of a growing issue.

Students from a Northeast Ecology course at B.U. are helping the City of Binghamton’s Parks and Recreation Department count trees.  The information will help officials take measure of the City’s urban forestry program and contribute data to the Treekeeper Database.

The urban forestry program in the City take inventory of tree species to help plan short and long-term maintenance needs for the urban forest.

The tree inventory is being done from 1:30 to 3 p.m. October 15 and 17 at Recreation Park.
