Binghamton Residents Urged to File for Rent Relief

Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham is encouraging resident to take advantage of rent relief that is still available after the statewide moratorium on evictions expired earlier this month.

The City has about $620,000 dollars available for low and moderate income tenants and homeowners affected by the pandemic to help with rental, mortgage and even utility payments.

City residents should call 2-1-1 to start the application process.

City officials say since the start of the COVID-19, Binghamton has allocated one-point-two million dollars through the federal CARES Act to help residents ward off eviction, foreclosure and homelessness.

Binghamton residents can apply for up to 12 months of rent coverage. That’s an increase from the previous maximum of three months.  Tenants who have already gotten assistance are also eligible to apply again.
