The Community Advocate of the Year Award from the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce was presented to the executive director of Binghamton Porchfest, Christopher Bodnarczuk at the 23rd annual Community Thanksgiving Luncheon November 12.

The award is given in recognition of a group or event that improves or enriches the neighborhood it serves in the Greater Binghamton area.

This year was the fifth for Porchfest where bands set up in yards, driveways and porches of willing residents on the West side for a free afternoon of music.

The Binghamton Porchfest started in 2013 with 20 porches and 163 performers and this year had 52 host houses and 583 musicians.  The entire effort is done by volunteers with financial support from sponsors.  The non-profit host organization for Porchfest is the Gorgeous Washington Street Association in Binghamton.
