Binghamton Police Seeking Downtown Shooters
No arrests have been reported after two downtown Binghamton shooting incidents in a five-day period.
The latest case involved several shots fired at 4 Fayette Street just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday. It happened about three blocks east of a Saturday afternoon dispute involving shots fired on Susquehanna Street.
Police who were in the area of Susquehanna and Fayette streets Thursday night reported hearing four or five shots. Nearby homes were searched for possible victims and suspects.
The Saturday incident appeared to stem from a dispute involving four men.
In both recent cases, investigators said they found no indication anyone was struck by gunfire.
Uniformed city police officers have been vigilant in the downtown district, watching for possible suspects from the recent incidents. They've been monitoring areas where more people tend to congregate now that warmer weather has arrived.
Last month, a man was shot several times as he sat in a parked vehicle near the Yellow Deli on Susquehanna Street on Easter Sunday.
A Brooklyn man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the attack.
