Binghamton Police Look for Pair in Burglary Investigation
City of Binghamton Police are turning to social media to try to find two men wanted for questioning in a burglary last month on Court Street.
Few details are being offered in the posting on the police facebook page other than the men are “persons of interest” in a burglary at 58 Court Street at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, May 22.
A search of the address in Downtown Binghamton shows the building is part of the block of buildings containing the now-closed Colonial and Dos Rios restaurants and bars. The Colonial is listed as 56-58 Court Street.
Police have not said if the reported burglary had been at the restaurants specifically or if suspects had attempted to break into other parts of the building.
The Binghamton Police facebook post includes some black and white surveillance still photos of the two men in question.
Both of the subjects are Black and appear to be in their 20s. The one suspect appears shirtless and is thin while the other subject is of a medium to heavy build and was wearing a dark, knit cap.
The post says the particular incident occurred on May 22, 2022 at approximately 2:15 a.m.
Anyone with information in regards to the identity of the two individuals is asked to contact the Binghamton Police Detective Bureau at 607-772-7080. Reference case number 2022-21138.
There are several apartments located above the former Colonial Restaurant. The restaurant and the neighboring Dos Rios closed at the end of April following months of controversy involving allegations of the owners and others associated with the businesses being involved in sexual assault and drug crimes. There have been criminal charges filed in that case.
There is no indication the May Burglary investigation has anything to do with previous troubles associated with the property.
