Beloved Binghamton Pizzeria Chooses New Home
A popular pizza place that's been a fixture in the Binghamton Plaza for decades is being forced to move because the city is about to take over the property.

The owners of New York Pizzeria had to start considering possible options starting nearly four years ago when Binghamton began efforts to gain control of the West State Street site.
Fabrizio and Germano Michitti had attracted lots of loyal customers with the shop's wide array of pizza varieties over the past 25 years.
The search for a new location gained urgency after the city prevailed in its eminent domain case against the owners of the Binghamton Plaza.
After considering a few potential sites relatively close to their current spot, they chose a site not too far away.
The owners Thursday afternoon told WNBF News they've decided to move to a small retail complex at 71 Robinson Street, a short distance east of the Binghamton Plaza.
The building may be familiar to many Binghamton residents because it previously was home to the Court Jester Athletic Club and Shenanigan's Restaurant. It's located near a Walgreens Pharmacy.
The Michittis are looking forward to setting up operations in the new space. Renovations at the Robinson Street site are to get underway soon.
There's no target date yet for opening at the new location.
