Binghamton Parade Begins Saturday at 1:30 PM
Despite the heavy snowfall Friday and Friday night the 51st annual St. Patrick's Day Parade is a GO in downtown Binghamton. City crews have cleared snow off the parade route and have been setting up barricades preparing for the crowd that is expected to be on hand.
The parade route goes west from the intersection of Fayette and Court Streets and finishes on Main Street at Arthur. Parade staging areas range from NYSEG Stadium to various side streets near the start of the parade route.
The parade is preceded by a Mass at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church on Court Street at 11:30 AM. A number of favorites are expected to participate in the parade including the Mummers Avalon String Band, Edward P. Maloney Memorial Pipe Band and the B.C. Celtic Pipe and Drum Corps.
The parade draws thousands of spectators to downtown Binghamton. There may be fewer Binghamton University students on hand this year.
