Binghamton Nightclub to Provide New Look to Old “Carlton” Site
A Binghamton man is moving forward with plans to open a new establishment in the downtown Centre Plaza building.
Dorian Lans said he's been working for the past year to renovate the basement-level of the complex that's been occupied by several businesses over the last five decades.

A lounge called The Carlton at Centre Plaza opened in the space in 1976. The site has been quiet since The Cave nightclub closed in June 2024 after a patron was shot in the chest.
Lans told WNBF News his new venue will be called Prestige. He said new flooring and a new color scheme will make his nightclub "definitely more inviting."
He said the stage has been redesigned and a new dance floor has been installed.

Lans said he expects Prestige will host special events, including live and music and comedy shows.
The food menu will include standard fare like wings, burgers and cheesesteaks. In addition to traditional bar food, vegetarian offerings will be available.

A city planning commission public hearing on a site plan review that had been scheduled early this month was postponed. The hearing now is to be held Thursday at 5:20 p.m. in the Binghamton City Council Chambers.
Lans has received conditional approval for a liquor license for the nightclub. He hopes to receive final approval after the planning commission completes its review of the project.
