Binghamton Mets Snap Losing Skid in New Hampshire
The Binghamton Mets got superb pitching from Greg Peavey as they snapped a four-game losing streak today with a 6-0 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in Manchester. Peavey upped his record to 2-1 giving up just two hits in a complete game effort. It was Peavey's second straight win and his first career nine-inning shutout. He struck out six Fisher Cats.
Binghamton used home run power to earn the decision. Brian Burgamy broke out of an 0-20 slump to hammer a three-run home run and Cory Vaughn smashed a solo shot to key the B-Mets attack.
Today's victory ended the three-game series in New Hampshire with the B-Mets winning one game in the series. Binghamton's record stands at 15-14 while the Fisher Cats drop to 14-17.
The B-Mets head home for seven straight games. They open up a four-game set with Harrisburg tomorrow night at 6:35 (airtime at 6:20 on News Radio 1290 WNBF). Binghamton remains home to host Altoona for three games next Tuesday thru Thursday.
