A Broome County man was sent to jail after he was arrested following a traffic stop in the town of Kirkwood.

Authorities say 37-year-old George Burts of Binghamton was charged with driving while his ability was impaired by drugs and operating without a license.

According to New York State Police, Burts was stopped on Court Street in Kirkwood.

Troopers say Burts also was charged with criminal impersonation, criminal possession of a controlled substance and falsifying business records.

Burts was arraigned in Kirkwood town court. He was ordered held in Broome County Jail without bail.
